11:00 PM update as to Palmetto Bay power restoration (9/14/2017)

I am providing the 11:00 PM update as to Palmetto Bay electrical power restoration.

Palmetto Bay is at approximately 64% restored.  6,080 have been restored.  3,420 remain out.

FPL’s Goal was to get all the feeders up by midnight, acknowledging that may take a little longer into tomorrow (9/15).

Once completed, FPL moves onto the Laterals, which gets FPL deeper into the neighborhoods.  This is the challenging part, reaching into where things are tangled.  Obviously not all laterals need to be completed before at least some of the teams, who have been working on the Feeders, move onto the lateral lines.

I covered the updated list of areas out - pointing out areas such as Mangowood which represent 716 impacted homes alone - and all homes are still waiting restoration.  There were photos (on my personal visits - below) provided earlier today of downed lines that stretch within reach of children, where cars have to deviate into another driveway due to the fact the car cannot pass safely into the homeowner's driveway.
We are seeing an increase is service vehicles within Palmetto Bay.  I was advised that the restoration Crews are working 24 hours – the individual shifts are 16 hours long.

1/3 of schools are still out, about 30 nursing homes, goal us to have these facilities wrapped up by tomorrow night.

Please continue to be patient.  Work is ongoing.

I will continue to keep you updated.

Your Mayor,

Eugene Flinn
