Village History Update - Part V – Jazz Under The Stars - 10 year anniversary
The 10 year anniversary, a good time to remember some great events that briefly sparked in Palmetto Bay. Palmetto Bay was blessed to have so many members of the Cultural Council residing within its (then) newly formed borders. I recall attending a Jazz Under the Stars when it was held at Metro Zoo. A brief partnership formed between the first Palmetto Bay Council and the Cultural Council after incorporation, and through the efforts of our first Manager Charles Scurr and initial Parks Director Ana Garcia, as well as Yolly Buchmann, Lois Neidhardt, Betty Noe, Maria Kesti and so many others with the Council. We had two of their events. One such event was the Art in the Park, but more on that in another post. I am posting this time about one clear March night in Palmetto Bay when the Palmetto Bay Village Center (PBVC) (thank you Scott Silver and team) and the Cultural Council put on "Jazz Under The Stars" on March 6, 2004. Neither event occurs any longer within Palmetto Bay. Click "Read more" below to view additional photos from this Jazz event. Note the Cultural Council has recently combined both the Art in The Park and Jazz Under the Stars into ART and ALL THAT JAZZ last held Saturday, January 14th, 2012. It is unfortunate that Jazz Under the Stars is no longer held in Palmetto Bay, but this 2004 event did mark the start of the PBVC becoming a home to so many outstanding events, indoor as well as outdoor for Palmetto Bay and surrounding residents.
