Support your local businesses. Support our local business association, the Palmetto Bay Business Association (PBBA)

Do you want a vibrant 'downtown' area where you can go shop, be entertained and dine? It doesn't simply "happen". It takes work and support. I ask that you support our local businesses. These businesses are where we shop, dine, workout or receive other services including various repairs.

The Palmetto Bay Business association is largely made up of local owners living in and around our Palmetto Bay community. I participate in this organization and have since it's inception.  See: http://www.pbbaonline.com/

The PBBA last met on Thursday, January 4, 2018.  The featured speaker was Beacon Council President & CEO Michael A Finney. 

PBay resident - and realtor - Hal Feldman currently serves as Chairman of the PBBA.  Hal succeeds Courtney Reeder, (another PBay resident and PBay business person) who remains on the PBBA Board as Immediate Past Chairwoman.  Courtney is the Operations Director for Golden Rule Seafood, a family owned & operated seafood market, If you haven't been there, you are missing some of the greatest seafood that can be found in South Florida.  Courtney been very instrumental in the creation of the newest family business, a family friendly, local seafood restaurant in Palmetto Bay.

Palmetto Bay Business Association update - Trust for Public Lands

A great meeting of the Palmetto Bay Business Association.  The featured speaker was Brenda McClymonds, Senior Program Director of the Trust for Public Lands (TPL). 

TPL has worked hard for Palmetto Bay - CLICK HERE to view the exciting TPL press release from 9/19/05, regarding the results of the September 15, the FCT governing board fully funded Thalatta Estate, our gem on the Bay which may not have occurred but for TPL getting involved:

•Bayfront/Haas Property, Village of Palmetto Bay, Miami-Dade County. Located on Biscayne Bay, this 3.6 acres will be protected as a public park. In addition, a house on the property that was built in 1926 will be preserved and eventually opened to the public. The FCT board approved $2.71 million to the Village of Palmetto. TPL purchased the property, in conjunction with the Village, in December 2004.

Palmetto Bay's first Vice Mayor

It was my pleasure to introduce Erica Watts to the PBBA community.  Erica is a member of our Educational Advisory Board (EAC) and it taking the lead on a PTA/PTSA summit to be held shortly. Pictured with Peter England, she is part of the PTA(PTSA)/Village collaboration as part of our 5 member EAC.  She also serves as President of the Coral Reef Elementary PTA. Many great programs are occurring and will be occurring in the near future due to Erica and many dedicated volunteers like Erica.

This week was FIU week for me, Thursday PBBA, Friday HNBA Mentoring

A week that was very involved with FIU.

Dr. Mark B. Rosenberg is the fifth president of Florida International University and former Chancellor of the State University System of Florida.  

President Rosenberg was the featured speaker on Thursday, October 1, 2015, before the Palmetto Bay Business Association.  

We were updated on the great work of our local State University including the impact specific to Palmetto Bay; from the thousands of graduates to the hundreds of faculty and staff that currently reside within Palmetto Bay.

I am honored to once again take part in the HNBA Mentoring program.  This year's kick off was held on Friday, October 2, 2015, at the UM Student Union.  I am most impressed by the quality of the law students who participate in this program.  Law Students from as far away as UF are participating.  Law Students from UM, FIU and St. Thomas are also present.  I find this program to benefit me as much as the mentees.

The 2015 kick off event was an opportunity for participating mentors and mentees to meet.  Assignments will be made and announced later this month. 

It is a wonderful opportunity for me to continue to participate in this outstanding program, being able to give back for the opportunities that I have been afforded.
