SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO THE KFHA

On December 13, 2013, the KFHA will host its Third Annual Holiday Program, featuring the Ferguson High School Lady Falcon Singers.  There will be holiday treats, the Hanukkah Menorah will be lit and, of course, Santa Claus will arrive with gifts for the children of Farm Share from Florida City Elementary School.

The FUN will begin at 7:00 pm at the Kendall Village Center 'Civic Pavilion', 8625 SW 124 Avenue, Miami, FL, in front of the Regal Theater.

Follow up on the expressway toll increases. Are you ready to participate?

Ready to pay more to use the roads that your taxes built?  Do you feel it is time to get engaged on the issue.  Can you afford not to? This is more than consideration of a one-time toll adjustment.  MDX wants to implement automatic toll rate increases that would start in 2015. They would ensure regular toll hikes down the road would match inflation - and would be done automatically, with no future hearings needed.

KFHA and RollBackTolls.com want to discuss with you the plan of the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX) to raise the per mile toll rate by 50% on the Dolphin (SR836) and Airport (SR112) Expressways by June 2014 as well as incorporate Consumer Price Indexing (CPI) on tolls for automatic toll increases after 2015 without oversight.  The CPI indexing will affect toll rates on all MDX highways including SR 874 and SR 878. This is an outrageous rate increase to place on the already financially burdened commuters of Miami-Dade County.

KFHA meeting Tuesday, May 29 - attend with questions for MDX, MIami-Dade County Public Works & Waste Management

The Kendall Federation of Homeowner Associations will have as featured guests, representatives from the Miami Dade Expressway (MDX) , and from  Miami-Dade County Public Works and Waste Management on May 29th , Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M.  

This will be an opportunity for the residents of Kendall to ask questions about our toll roads, and find out what is in store for the future.  There will be free transponders for the first 150 guests and you can get activated that evening.  

Public Works will talk about recycling and show an amazing video, a behind the scenes look at this not so familiar world.  It’s “dirty” work, but when you think about all the trash that generates from millions of people….”where does it go?”  

The program will begin at 7pm at the Kendall Village Center Civic Pavilion, 8625 SW 124th Avenue, in front of the Regal Theater.

The Kendall Federation of Homeowner Associations is hosting a Holiday Toy Giveaway for the Children of Farm Share.

On December 12th, the KFHA will host its first annual Holiday Program featuring the Ferguson High School Jazz Combo and the Ferguson Concert Choir. There will be holiday treats, the Hanukkah Menorah will be lit and of course…Santa Claus will arrive with gifts for the Children of Farm Share.

The FUN will begin at 7pm at the Kendall Village Center Civic Pavilion, 8625 SW 124th Avenue, in front of the Regal Theater.

The KFHA is collecting donations to purchase as many toys as possible. Please send your tax-deductible donation to KFHA by December 1st so “wrapped gifts” will arrive on time!

Thursday, July 28. Make plans to attend this KFHA meeting: The Miami-Dade Budget: The New Mayor's Perspective.KFHA to host Mr. Gimenez' first Town Hall Budget Meeting

Newly elected Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez will discuss his proposed County Budget with residents at a Miami-Dade County Town Hall Meeting hosted by the Kendall Federation of Homeowner Associations on July 28th. This will be the Mayor's first such gathering with citizens. The meeting will begin at 7pm at the Kendall Village Center Civic Pavilion, 8625 SW 124th Avenue which is in front of the Regal Theater.

The Mayor's spending plan has already produced news headlines as the proposed blueprint calls for the elimination of 1,300 county jobs, requires concessions from county employees and slates 13 libraries for closure. The budget also cuts property tax rates and generally protects services currently afforded children and seniors.

KFHA President Lee Zimmerman expects a tremendous turnout for the meeting. "Mayor Gimenez faces an extremely difficult task and there are no simple solutions. Taxpayers, county employees and union members will want to be heard and we'll do our best to accommodate everyone. The KFHA is honored that the Mayor is allowing the KFHA to host his first Town Hall Meeting."

The KFHA urges attendees to arrive early in order to guarantee seating.

Our school students and teachers need our support. Important meeting regarding public school budget - come on out April 20- 6:30 PM, KFHA

We all know that improving our public schools is one of the most important keys to successful business and community development.  Our state is facing a budget crisis that will endanger the viability of public education statewide with even a more direct impact on the children growing up in our county. The legislature and our governor is literally putting our educational system back into the dark ages.

Governor Rick Scott's original budget plan called for public education to absorb about 72% of his proposed budget cuts even though public schools only account for 29% of state spending. While lawmakers have not completely embraced the Governor's plan, Miami-Dade County Public School officials last week projected the District will have to deal with $144 million in cuts.
