Out in Kendall there is a little museum called Wings Over
Miami Air Museum. It is located on the west side of the Kendall Tamiami
Executive Airport.
Wings Over Miami is a unique little museum, unlike anything
else around South Florida. The best part about the museum is that a great
number of their exhibits are in flying condition. This museum brings history to
life.
Visitors to the museum get an up-close look at planes that
most people only see on television, in the movies or history books.
During special events and sometimes
on the weekends, museum guests will see an exhibit roll out and taxi out as it
prepares to take off. Almost always during the week there are mechanics working
on planes, tweaking the engines and restoring the bodies to their former glory.
Wings Over Miami brings to the
community and to our community’s tourists a friendly peek into years gone by.
This museum of special aircraft is a true memorial to the glory days of military
aviation and our veterans. Veterans are urged to contact the museum and become a
part of the volunteer team who so wonderfully augment the museum’s story.
The museum is open Wednesday through
Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sundays, noon to 5:00 p.m. For more
