There will be a panel discussion led by moderator Honorable Katy Sorenson.
This meeting is hosted by The Village of Pinecrest and cohosted by:
Chambersouth, Economic Development Council and Cutler Bay Mayor Edward
MacDougall.
Palmetto Bay councilman Howard Tendrich has been championing this issue
for Palmetto Bay residents.

in reforming Miami-Dade transit. Also
see the Miami Herald, August 17, 2012: Oppositionbuilding to South Dade expressway, by Asley Lopez, Miami-Dade highway
officials want to relieve traffic on U.S. 1 in South Dade, but some residents
worry the proposed solution could be bad for neighborhoods.
This is an important issue for neighborhood
protection in Palmetto Bay.
Councilman Howard Tendrich attempted to bring this item forward (seconded
by Councilman Fiore) at a council meeting (CLICKHERE the official minutes page 4 of 9) but was shot down 2 – 3 by Stanczyk,
Pariser and Lindsay. Perhaps the special interests have gotten to these three
to stay quiet on this issue that will profoundly affect the commute down US1
and traffic flow into the Palmetto Bay neighborhoods. Remember this when Pariser’s campaign team
try to mislead you that he is pro neighborhood and Tendirch is pro developer,
when the opposite is true.
Pinecrest Mayor Cindy Lerner said she hopes Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay
join her in opposing the plans to the county commissioners whenever they are
approached with concrete plans. Attar said she is hoping for the same and
ultimately wants to preserve the suburban look of the Pinecrest/Falls area.
"If this passes, instead of living in a suburb, we are going to be
living by I-95" Cutler Bay Mayor Ed
MacDougall, as well as south dade business/civic groups Chambersouth and Economic
Development Council are engaged, but only Howard Tendrich for Palmetto
Bay. How sad for our neighborhoods.
Maybe Stanczyk, Pariser and Lindsay would get engaged if you told them that the tollway was designed for the convenience of private school and church transportation.
