Pinecrest Planning on Intervening in the FPL Rate Case
Pinecrest and the neighboring municipalities have the unique opportunity to file as interveners in the FPL rate case, but this must be completed soon, because the case will be decided in October 2012. Pinecrest and the participating municipalities will be represented by a Bill Garner and Brian Armstrong of Nabors, Giblin, & Nickerson, Attorneys at Law, which specializes in representing municipalities in disputes with utilities. This is the same legal firm that's representing Pinecrest in the Transmission Line proceedings. Pinecrest's share of the legal costs would be capped at $25,000 and they have commitments from other municipal and commercial property owners as partners, allowing us to share the costs of litigation. Pinecrest is still soliciting several other municipalities and local business interests to join in. That sure beats paying $1.4 million a year, and maybe we gain some leverage on our transmission line problem along the way.
