Maximum Sustained Wind Speed: 75 MPH
Forward Speed: 14 MPH
Forward Direction: west northwest
Potential for further development or weakening:
ON THE FORECAST TRACK THE CENTER OF IRENE WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE NORTH COAST OF PUERTO RICO THIS MORNING...AND APPROACH THE NORTHERN COAST OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.
SOME STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
Potential Impact for Miami-Dade County: Miami-Dade County is currently in the 5 day cone. Potential impacts could be Thursday PM or Friday; however, it is still too early to tell. We are monitoring and will continue to provide updates.
