Update on the County Drainage project - Coral Reef Drive near 82 Avenue

From our Village Manager, Ed Silva:

There have been numerous requests for information on the street closure sign on S.W. 152nd. Street. This is a Miami-Dade county project that has been in the works for some time to help alleviate the drainage issues in that immediate area.

The project was authorized to proceed on September 4, 2015 and submitted to the Village on September 11, 2015 for our review.

The Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) is scheduled for approximately 30 days. The project was originally 'red tagged' by the Palmetto Bay Manager (stop work order) as pictured in the upper left (4 photos to the right).

After a telephonic phone conference with Maria Levrant (from Commissioner Daniela Levine Cava’s office) and Antonio Cotarelo (Director of PWWM) we discussed  the closure and emphasized  the impact it will cause residents in the morning commute. They agreed to have the road open during the morning commute and schedule the work between the hours of 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. They asked to allow work on Saturdays so as not to delay the project and we agreed to this request.

The manager thanks the both of them for working with us and reaching an agreement that helps our residents in the morning commute but also addresses the drainage problems that area has. This proves what good, respectful communications can bring.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
