May is National Bike Month. Register and participate in the 2017 National Bike Challenge

Its that time of year again! You have this weekend to get your bikes ready and join me in the 2017 National Bike Challenge.

CLICK HERE to view the intro materials where you can decide if you want to sign up and participate.  I encourage you to do so.  It is all at your own pace, at your own level or type of riding.

I ask Palmetto Bay to get involved in the National Bike Challenge. Click the link to sign up.  The event runs from May 1, 2017, through September 30, 2017.

Our Village of Palmetto Bay is one of many municipalities partnered with Bike 305

Palmetto Bay is has an outstanding biking community with an abundance of biking trails.  Our South Florida location offers some of the most beautiful biking views.  I want to encourage even more local residents to take advantage of the benefits of cycling. Getting on a bike promotes good health and you can avoid traffic congestion on trips where you take the bike rather than the car. A sad day in Palmetto Bay - Romanza has closed - last day was Friday, April 28, 2017

Palmetto Bay is blessed with some great restaurants.  I am sad to report that one of ours, Romanza ceased operation at the end of Friday, April 28, 2017.  Romanza had been operating in Palmetto was packed last night with friends and well-wishers.

For those who never had the opportunity to dine there, Romanza was operating at 14501 South Dixie Highway in the Quality Inn since August 2009.

Thank you to Owner Cortez family for the good times. May they reopen in Palmetto Bay soon. I spoke with many and we all are thinking about alternative locations.  Is there a suitable location for Romanza in Palmetto Bay? Please let me know your thoughts.
Please view MiamiHal's Blog post of September 2, 2014, Abbondanza Romanza! for addition background information regarding Romanza.

We will miss you, Fernando, Ana and staff - but we are looking/hopeful for a new landing somewhere in Palmetto Bay.

And a very nice parting (for now) message from Fernando & Ana Cortez (a keeper):

Earth Day in Palmetto Bay - Tree Give Away, 4-22-2017

"Great things may come from small beginnings"

A "TREE-mendously" successful morning at Palmetto Bay's Earth Day tree giveaway. The greening / shading of Palmetto Bay continues for another year through the tree give away, free to Palmetto Bay residents. Even the pup had excitedly pick out a tree. Now comes the digging and planting.
Thank you Team Palmetto Bay, our Public Services Director Corrice Patterson and her team along with Parks and Code Compliance who have once again worked to 'Green Up" Palmetto Bay for another year.
(Okay, this photo was staged, she did not really take the tree home via bike,
attached to her bike rack, but we did have some fun.)

And for those who use Facebook - I encourage you to review many more photos posted to my Facebook site:
