Happy end of school year - Have a safe and happy summer vacation.

As always, I congratulate the students, parents, teachers and school staff for completion of another successful year. 

Back in 2004, in hopes of  getting the summer kicked off right, I implemented with the assistance of Ana Garcia (Palmetto Bay's first Parks and Recreation Director ) a "controlled" end of the year celebration at Coral Reef Park.  I would like to see this end of the year blow out continue for children from all area schools to come to Coral Reef Park after school Thursday for this current end-of-school celebration.  

This celebration allows our kids to have a fun "hello to summer", while having some organization and security for the end of year festivities.  This event has been coordinated each year through both the village policing unit and Parks and Recreation department.

Please take your usual special care to watch out for playful children darting out into your car's path while driving  this week and throughout the summer.
