Pre-Palmetto Bay opposition to bridging - opposition by Community Council 13 to adding cut through traffic

There has been a long history of opposing regarding bridging the canals within our community. Palmetto Bay residents have long feared our community being turned into reliever roads for US1 and Old Cutler Road due to the exponential growth far south, new traffic caused by Miami-Dade County's failure to update traffic infrastructure - especially by its failure to provide mass/rapid transit.

Community Council Area 13 spoke for Palmetto Bay prior to incorporation.

The Palmetto Bay Community Council opposed bridging our area canals - please view the online document - a resolution from the May 1998 agenda - yes - 1998 - over Nineteen (19) years ago. there is no mention of the 87th avenue bridge - perhaps because back then County Planners felt bridging 77th avenue made more sense.  There is no explanation today as to why
